Absentee Voting


Civilian Absentee Ballots (mail ballot) are nonforwardable by the United States Postal Service per F.S. 101.62(1). 

HOW DO I REQUEST AN ABSENTEE BALLOT?

OR

  • Call, write, fax, or email the Elections Office to receive an absentee ballot by mail.  (phone 352-341-6740, mail 120 N Apopka Ave. Inverness, Florida, 34450, email vote@elections.citrus.fl.us, fax 352-341-6749).
  • One request can cover all elections within two election cycles.
  • Immediate family can order an absentee ballot.

    Information required by law:
  1. Requester's name, address, relationship to the elector and signature, if on a written request.

HOW WILL I OBTAIN MY ABSENTEE BALLOT?

  • Your absentee ballot will be mailed from the Supervisor of Elections office.  
  • The deadline to submit an absentee request to the Supervisor of Elections is no later than 5:00pm on the 6th day prior to the election. F.S. 101.62

COMPLETING THE RETURN CERTIFICATE ENVELOPE

  • The voter's signature is required.

HOW DO I RETURN MY ABSENTEE BALLOT?

  • By mail or have someone drop the ballot off at the main office of the Supervisor of Elections office before 7:00pm election day.  120 N Apopka Ave Inverness, Fl 34450.    

A VOTED ABSENTEE BALLOT CANNOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE POLLING PLACE

  • If you have obtained an absentee ballot but choose to vote in your precinct on election day, you MUST take the ballot with you to the polls, whether or not it has been marked.

HOW DO MILITARY OR OVERSEAS CIVILIANS VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT?

  • Military personnel may apply for voter registration or request absentee ballots with a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) which may be obtained from the Unit Voting Officer or online at http://www.fvap.gov/ . If the FPCA is not available, phone, email, write, or fax a request to the Supervisor Of Elections Office.  (elections information phone 352-341-6740, email vote@elections.citrus.fl.us write - 120 N Apopka Ave. Inverness, FL 34450 or fax 352-341-6749.

  • NOTE: Spouses and dependents are considered to be of the same category of Absentee voter as military members and generally should follow the same rules.

  • U.S. Embassies and Consulates can assist in completing, witnessing, notarizing and mailing FPCA forms, absentee ballots and other election materials. Additional Military election information is available from:
