Letter from your Supervisor of Elections
We are hearing some buzz about election legislation and eagerly awaiting the outcome of the session to implement the new election law changes. Watch your local paper for updates.
A few times this month I had the opportunity to be out serving in the community. I had the honor of speaking with the Military Officers of America. I am so thankful for their participation and interest in the electoral process.
Ferris Groves was a big hit on the weekend of the Strawberry Festival. Staff and I were able to have a table set up for information and registering voters.
The elections team and volunteers have been busy registering voters at the Lecanto Post Office and the YMCA.
We have four new volunteers that are serving at the election office. Three volunteers started in March and one in February. They are helping with outreach events, office tasks, answering the phone and registering voters.
Staff is continuing to be busy with election related classes, Zoom meetings and webinars. These avenues for training have allowed us to continue training through the pandemic.
2022 is the year for redistricting. This takes place every 10 years after the Census. New districts will be added and assigned. New maps for the districts and precincts will be created and new Voter Information Cards will be mailed to the voters a few months before the 2022 elections.
Please contact our office for more information and suggestions.
It is my pleasure to serve you,
Maureen ‘Mo’ Baird
Supervisor of Elections
